Polarization of an inequality
نویسنده
چکیده
We generalize a previous inequality related to a sharp version of the Littlewood conjecture on the minimal L1-norm of N -term exponential sums f on the unit circle. The new result concerns replacing the expression log(1+ t|f |) with log (∑K k=1 tk|fk| 2 ) . The proof occurs on the level of finite Toeplitz matrices, where it reduces to an inequality between their polarized determinants (or “mixed discriminants”). A.M.S. Inequality, Bi-Polarization and Mobility of Urban Infrastructure Investment in China’s Urban System
In periods of rapid urbanization, investment in urban infrastructure should not only meet the increasing demands of all urban people, but also be equally allocated between cities to achieve social equity and sustainable development. This paper aimed to conduct quantitative research on the unbalance of urban infrastructure investment between cities in China. The measurement models for inequality...
متن کاملInequality and bi-polarization in socioeconomic status and health: Ordinal approaches
Traditional indices of bi-dimensional inequality and polarization were developed for cardinal variables and cannot be used to quantify dispersion in ordinal measures of socioeconomic status and health. This paper develops two approaches to the measurement of inequality and bi-polarization using only ordinal information. An empirical illustration is given for 24 European Union countries in 2004-...
متن کاملPolarization constant $mathcal{K}(n,X)=1$ for entire functions of exponential type
In this paper we will prove that if $L$ is a continuous symmetric n-linear form on a Hilbert space and $widehat{L}$ is the associated continuous n-homogeneous polynomial, then $||L||=||widehat{L}||$. For the proof we are using a classical generalized inequality due to S. Bernstein for entire functions of exponential type. Furthermore we study the case that if X is a Banach space then we have t...
متن کاملInformation, Inequality, and Mass Polarization: Ideology in Advanced Democracies
Growing polarization in the American Congress is closely related to rising income inequality. Yet there has been no corresponding polarization of the U.S. electorate, and across advanced democracies, mass polarization is negatively related to income inequality. To explain this puzzle, we propose a comparative political economy model of mass polarization in which the same institutional factors t...
